I had a bad fall and rang surgery for help.Receptionist said they couldn't help and sent me to a&e.I had a broken humerus so rang surgery for appt to be checked out as I had other injuries the hospital wouldn't deal with.Aftertrying to get past the receptionist my phone went to answer phone so I missed the call.On ringing surgery was told would have to ring next morning. Still haven't spoken to gp 6 days after accident
There has been an issue with the receptionist and office staff for a while now. It started pretty covid so that cannot be used as an excuse. Receptionists are rude and unhelpful. Not enough to cater for the amount of people waiting to make appointments. If after waiting or continuously calling which usually takes hours to get through, you are deemed by non medical staff to be non urgent you then are given an appointment upto 5 weeks ahead or asked to call back the next day for an emergency appointment which you can't get as you can't get through. Any non urgent condition quickly becomes urgent due to being unable to even speak to a doctor. It should not be left upto a receptionist to decide if you have an urgent problem or not. They also should have a dedicated line in for use by other medical practitioners as these have to use the main line and they haven't got the time to wait on hold. Also most doctors in the practice are wonderful when you are able to see them but they do seem to have serious issues with some members that are definitely not being addressed. Badly organised admin and rude receptionists. If calls were answered promptly there would be less patient frustration and rudeness.would decrease.Dedicated lines manned by qualified medical staff for emergency calls, and increasing the number of staff taking the other calls would decrease patient call waiting times. A dedicated line in for medical staff use Receptionists are not qualified to determine whether a patient needs to see a doctor face to face so should not be expected to triage them. This leads to patients becoming seriously I or dying.
Absolutely terrible place, I have been ill for over 3 years now and they will not do nothing and have no interest in helping me at all and I am spoke to very rudely everytime I speak to anyone! Will definitely be changing doctors I hate this place.
I have been a patient at the surgery for years and all the staff I have come into contact with from my GP, the nurses and receptionist have been exceptional. Professional, warm and welcoming , quite rare to find this in a society rushed off its feet and everyone is busy. Always felt welcome and listened to. One of the best, if not the best surgery I have attended. Will be sad when I have to move house.
I saw the nurse for bloods, asked to be weighed as concerned about my rapid weight loss. Told I had to go into boots shop to weigh myself! Spoke to g. P regarding this, she said 'I have more important things to do, than talk to you'.
